Welcome to the quiet little western town known as Chile Verde. Quiet that is until Rosie Velez (Divine) and Abel Wood (Tab Hunter), come to town to stir things up. Now, the wild wild west will never be the same again. Lust and greed is on everyone's mind as the heat sizzles under the hot desert sun.
Upon her journey to Chile Verde, Rosie has just about given up hope when she suddenly spots water. She is overcome with joy as she takes a brief little skinny dip in the water. She is then suddenly caught off guard by a mysterious cowboy. He does not say a word to her as Rosie begs for help on her course to Chile Verde.
She begins to tell him of her encounter with a ruthless gang of cowboys who had their way with her. She flashes back as she recalls the horrific yet passionate incident. "Anyone want to try again", Rosie asked the men. Needless to say she sent these men racing off into the night. In the mist of her recollection they spot a small town at the end of the road.

"Chile Verde", Rosie cries with joy. As the two make their way into the town Rosie exclaims, "I came all this way for this". The town is deserted. No one is around. They enter an old beaten up saloon. Rosie spots a plate of franks and beans and immediately helps herself. Suddenly a shot is fired. The townsfolk emerge with their guns and weapons. Suddenly a shot is fired. It is Marguerita Ventura (Lainie Kazan), who is the owner of the saloon. The men seize fire. Rosie immediately approaches Marguerita and begs her for a job. Marguerita being disgusted at the sight of her asks what she can do. Rosie tells her she can sing. Marguerita agrees to let Rosie sing. Rosie puts on a hot little number which get the cowboys all aroused. When she was finished Marguerita replied, "Honey you sing as bad as you look".
Rosie then goes and gets herself a drink from the bar. Big Ed is the bartender. She is an old woman who has a problem with keeping a secret. Big Ed slips and asks Rosie if she is here for the gold. The Saloon goes quiet and Marguerita orders Big Ed to shut up. But it's too late...the beans have been spilled and now Rosie wants to know about the treasure. All is silent. Everyone fears Marguerita and no one better dare betray her.

Marguerita has had enough of Rosie and sets her sights on Abel Wood. She offers him a refreshing shower just out back. He agrees and she follows right behind him. The two enter the shower together and encounter some hot and heavy lovemaking. When they return to saloon Rosie once again begs her for a job. Marguerita agrees that she could use someone to wash to the floors and clean up the place. Out in the middle of nowhere Rosie has no other choice but to accept.
Jealousy between these two women increases and Rosie cannot take it anymore. An all out cat-fight takes place and these two go to work on each other. Rosie exclaims, "Yeah I was a dance hall girl...but so what", "You are the only whore in Chile Verde",as she breaks a chair over Marguerita's back. This is my personal favorite scene in the movie. It is hilarious and very funny.
When Big Ed finds the girls naked and tied to the bed she tells them of the tattoos of the back of their bottom. "Mine is a birthmark", Rosie exclaims. Big Ed tells her no it is a map. With their two backside s together, it is the map of the buried treasure.

Anchor Bay Home Enterrainment provides a new 16 X 9 enhanced transfer for "Lust in the Dust" and the results are not as good as i hoped. The picture suffers from some grain in areas and the brightness and contrast are off at times, But this is the best the film ever looked. Colors are well saturated and bright.. Better then any previous home video release.
The sound is presented in it's original Mono track and is very crisp and clear.
A very good 16 minute featurette included called "More Lust Less Dust". It features interviews from producers Allen Glaser, Tab Hunter and actress Lainie Kazan. John Water fans would be happy to see this one. It features an original adution for Edith Massey whom was slated to play the part of "Big Ed".
The original theatrical trailer is also included.
Over all this DVD will make all fans of Divine and the film very happy.
