When two innocent girls are are taken to Pridemore Juvenile Facility for Girls, they enter into a world of sex and violence. The girls are taken into custody and immediately they are asked to remove all their clothing. The women guards seem to enjoy this as the girls strip and take a shower. After the girls frolic around in the shower the head warden in called. Eddy is the meanest of the mean...the nastiest of the nasty...and also the best part of this flick. Eddy (Pat Ast), welcomes the girls to this hellhole gone mad. The girls are assigned bunks as they are taken into the dorm. Once inside the dorm we see girls playing around in their undies with their very 80's spiked hair. Friends are made and so are enemies.
Once inside the dorm we are introduced to Charlie( Wendy O'Williams of the Plasmatics), who is the toughest of the bunch. She is mean and has a thing for girls. When she makes her move on one of the new girls, the new girl stands up to her and a confrontation takes place. Gangs are formed behind these walls and the battle for survival is on. When one of the fragile girls finds a cat she sneaks it back into her room. As Eddy comes enters Charlie lets loose the cat and Eddy rages with fury. In one of the funniest scenes in the film, Eddy chases the cat and begins to stomp the floor in hopes of killing the cat. The girls begin to riot as Eddy tries desperately to get the cat. When Eddy puts all her weight down we hear a scream from the cat. Squashed beneath her feet the cat is dead. The girls suddenly go silent and Eddy orders her guards to bring something to clean her shoe with. Wardens do not get meaner than this and that is the reason why Reform School Girls is so enjoyable.
Sybil Danning makes brief appearances and yet she is slated as the star as the head of the facility. She is almost as mean as Eddy, but without Eddy's appeal. In one of the most famous cult prison movies, Reform School Girls has become a cult classic of bad girls gone berserk in this romp of girl prison movies. In it's climatic ending the girls rally together to seek vengence in a place gone mad. Where rules are broken and the only chance for survival is to join the gang in Reform School Girls.
Anchor Bay provides a very clean and colorful picture for this DVD. This film never looked this good and fans will be very pleased. Included is an audio commentary by the Director Tom DeSimone and Humorist Martin Lewis.. I haven't had a chance to listen to this as yet but will. 2 Trailers are included and a behind the scenes gallery. Overall: This movie was one of those that I liked (For some reason) back in the day, But after seening this film since over 10 years ago, I was disapointed. It was a film that wanted so bad to be BAD, but due to it's uneven script and mis-casting it just falls to pieces. I recommend a rental for this one, But fans of it will be very happy with Anchor Bay's treatment of it.
